Ingredients:

  • 1 cup kala chana (black chickpeas), soaked overnight

  • 1/2 cup soya granules, soaked

  • 2 slices of bread

  • 1 tsp garam masala

  • 7 green chillies

  • 1/4 spoon red chilli powder

  • Ginger-garlic paste (to taste)

  • Salt (to taste)

  • 2 tsp lemon juice

Instructions:

  1. Soak 1 cup of kala chana overnight.

  2. Boil the soaked kala chana for 20 minutes.

  3. Grind the boiled kala chana coarsely in a mixer.

  4. Break down the soaked soya granules, add to the mixture and mix well.

  5. Add 2 slices of bread to the mixture.

  6. Mix in 1 tsp of garam masala.

  7. Add 7 green chillies (finely chopped).

  8. Add 1/4 spoon red chilli powder.

  9. Grind ginger and garlic and add to the mixture.

  10. Add salt to taste.

  11. Mix in 2 tsp of lemon juice.

  12. Shape the mixture into small tikkis (patties).

  13. Either deep fry the tikkis of shallow fry on a heated pan with a little oil until golden brown on both sides.

Serving Suggestion:

Serve the kala chana tikkis hot with chutney or sauce of your choice.
