We partnered with Hammock Mag to bring their editorial archive to life through an interactive map that visualises the geographical journey of the authors they’ve published. The goal was a discovery tool that merged design, development and content strategy in a way that honoured the magazine’s thoughtful tone and experimental spirit.
How it was built
The tool is a responsive web app with a clean, immersive interface. We worked with GeoJSON datasets and a custom CMS workflow that let Hammock’s editors tag stories with meaningful metadata — author location, themes, timeframes. Readers explore these narratives spatially, uncovering patterns across regions and literary movements.
Design considerations
We emphasised minimalism and legibility: generous white space, serif typography, organic animations. Technically, we optimised for fast loads and mobile browsing while preserving the editorial richness of the original stories.
The result functions not just as a digital archive but as a living essay — expanding how literary work can be organised, read and revisited.
